6/26/2017 1 Comment Juliet Rose in Sugar and CPWorking on perfecting the Juliet Rose I have been working on one of the worlds most popular wedding flowers. Image one is the semi closed Rose made with pettinice. Image two is open version and image 3 is made from hearty Soft Cold Porcelain. I wanted to make one in CP so I could send it to a friend in the UK and was worried that sugar would break. Working with Cold porcelain was very different to Sugar. I found Modena did not work for me with freeform and I had to really change the way I pushed out the petals and veined. I had to be very very gentle. If you push the veiner down to hard the petal will stick. If you push out too hard the CP will be too thin and split. in saying that i found hearty soft to be ok for Flowers and am also working with some children's coloured CP. It seems that the children's stuff varies in texture depending on the supplier. For consistency I would advise people wanting to make freeform CP flowers to use the hearty soft version Faux Cold Porcelain. Its spongy but doesn't stick to the bag and you can form the petals with your fingers or spoons. I brought mine from an online Cake store here in NZ. I have attached a brooch to the back of this Cold Porcelain version so it can be worn on a jacket as a button hole. And I am sending it as a wee keepsake to a dear friend in England. Huge sugar hugs Lisa

Ruby Rose for our 17th wedding anniversary
I had some paste that was almost un-rescuable I had been saving for a special flower but it needed to be used as it was losing all its elasticity and going hard. When I realised it was nearly 3rd of June I thought it could make a lovely rose to signify our Wedding Anniversary. 20 centre petals to signify our 20 years together with 17 outer petals to signify our marriage. The colour is a mixture of Bakels Red Pettinice and Rainbow dust Progels. Its dusted very slightly at the tips with rainbow dust spring green. This was made with lots of love and enjoyment. I thought it was a bit worn looking.. a bit like us lol! Making roses is my therapy.
