6/16/2017 1 Comment English Sugar Roses lI have been in love with making English roses for a while. I adore the uniqueness of each and every one and adore the fact there are so so many varieties of English roses to copy. We are fortunate enough to have a large garden that is always crying out for more plants so I have been able to get some English roses by Trevor Griffith ones and David Austin's being some of my favs but I also adore the old roses. Isis Belle being one of my favourites that was already in our garden. (I actually got asked to make a english sugar rose for Trevor Griffith's grand daughters wedding cake. I was so delighted and terribly terrified! lol)
Mum was such a keen gardener. She spent every free moment she could in the garden. I think she gave me a special appreciation for flowers. And I think if she were here she would have liked my work.

Lisa, I love how you explained what you used these sugar roses for and how much you love making them. My husband and I are looking for some different types of sugar art that we can have on our daughter's wedding cake. We will keep these tips in mind as we search for a professional that can help us best.

Ruby Rose for our 17th wedding anniversary
I had some paste that was almost un-rescuable I had been saving for a special flower but it needed to be used as it was losing all its elasticity and going hard. When I realised it was nearly 3rd of June I thought it could make a lovely rose to signify our Wedding Anniversary. 20 centre petals to signify our 20 years together with 17 outer petals to signify our marriage. The colour is a mixture of Bakels Red Pettinice and Rainbow dust Progels. Its dusted very slightly at the tips with rainbow dust spring green. This was made with lots of love and enjoyment. I thought it was a bit worn looking.. a bit like us lol! Making roses is my therapy.
